What Happened to Rapper TI & Tiny’s Mess?
TI, born Clifford Joseph Harris Jr., once held the crown as the “King of the South,” but his journey has been anything but smooth. Raised in Atlanta, TI hustled from a young age—selling candy at school and eventually dropping out to pursue music and riskier street hustles.
He signed his first record deal in 1999, but his debut album *I’m Serious* flopped. Undeterred, he rebranded as TI, signed with Atlantic Records, and launched his own label, Grand Hustle.
By 2003, with the release of *Trap Muzik*, TI’s star began to rise, and his platinum albums like *Urban Legend* and *King* solidified his place in hip-hop.
TI’s success extended beyond music. He built a business empire with record labels, clothing lines, a film company, and even the Trap Music Museum in Atlanta. He also turned his family into reality TV stars with *TI & Tiny: The Family Hustle*.
But with fame came controversy. TI’s legal troubles have been a constant—he’s been arrested over 30 times, including for gun possession and drug charges. His wife, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, former member of R&B group Xscape, was often by his side through the chaos.
Their relationship has been a rollercoaster. They began dating in 2001, married in 2010, and have a blended family of seven children. Yet, their marriage faced public drama, including rumors of infidelity and a highly publicized fight between TI and boxer Floyd Mayweather over Tiny. In 2016, Tiny filed for divorce, allegedly due to parenting disagreements and other unresolved issues, but the couple ultimately reconciled.
Financial woes also hit the couple hard. In 2015, TI faced a $4.5 million tax bill, raising questions about his lavish lifestyle. But the biggest scandals were yet to come.
In 2019, TI sparked outrage by admitting he took his teenage daughter to the gynecologist to “check her hymen,” a statement that was widely criticized as invasive and controlling. He later apologized for his comments.
The most serious allegations surfaced in 2021, when over 30 women accused TI and Tiny of drugging, kidnapping, and sexually assaulting them over 15 years.
The couple denied all claims, but VH1 pulled their reality show off the air, and the LAPD opened an investigation. Ultimately, no criminal charges were filed due to the statute of limitations, but the allegations damaged their reputation. In 2024, a new lawsuit was filed by an Air Force veteran under California’s Sexual Abuse and Coverup Accountability Act, but it too was dismissed.
Despite their troubles, TI and Tiny scored a major legal victory in 2024, winning a $71 million lawsuit against MGA Entertainment for copying Tiny’s girl group OMG Girlz with their LOL Surprise OMG Dolls. This windfall boosted their net worth to an estimated $30 million.
Recently, TI announced his retirement from live performances, with his last major show in December 2023. Whether he stays retired remains to be seen, as artists often return to the spotlight.
With a history of controversy, business ventures, and family drama, it’s unlikely TI and Tiny will ever fully fade away. Their story is a testament to resilience—and the messiness of fame.
