# The Latest About Lisa Kelly From Ice Road Truckers Is Breaking Headlines
Lisa Kelly, the fearless queen of Arctic roads who captivated viewers on History Channel’s “Ice Road Truckers,” is making headlines once again. After the show’s unexpected hiatus following Season 11 in 2017, fans have been eager to learn what became of the trailblazing female trucker who broke barriers in a male-dominated industry.
Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1980, Kelly’s family moved to Alaska when she was six years old. After briefly attending college, she discovered her passion for driving while working as a school bus driver.
Despite facing skepticism and resistance when applying for trucking jobs, Kelly persevered and eventually secured a position with Carlile Transportation in Fairbanks, Alaska.
Her life changed dramatically when she joined “Ice Road Truckers” in Season 3, becoming the show’s first female driver. Initially brought in as “eye candy” according to producers, Kelly quickly proved her exceptional skills behind the wheel.
She drove across some of the world’s most treacherous routes, including the Himalayas in India and Bolivia’s notorious “Death Road” with its sheer cliffs and deadly drop-offs.
One of her most remarkable accomplishments came during the “Deadliest Roads” season finale in 2010, when Kelly became the only North American trucker to complete a dangerous mission delivering jet fuel to helicopter crews during severe storms. Where seasoned drivers turned back, she pushed forward, saving lives in the process.
Despite her undeniable talent, Kelly faced significant challenges. She wasn’t paid for her early seasons on the show while her male counterparts received compensation.
She had to work twice as hard to earn the same respect, even taking a year-long break from the series in 2012 to reconnect with her passion for trucking away from the cameras.
After the show ended, Kelly continued her trucking career while expanding her professional horizons. In 2016, she became a brand ambassador for Chevron’s Delo heavy-duty engine oils, representing the company at industry events and starring in promotional videos. By 2022, she had launched her own transportation company, investing what she describes as her “heart and soul and everything I got” into the venture.
The breaking news that has fans excited? History Channel has announced the return of “Ice Road Truckers” in 2025, and Kelly has confirmed she’ll be returning to the series that made her famous.
In her personal life, Kelly has been married to Travis Kelly, an Alaskan dirt bike enthusiast, since 2008. When not trucking, she enjoys motocross, hang-gliding, snowboarding, and horseback riding. She remains an inspiration for women pursuing careers in male-dominated fields, proving that with determination and hard work, it’s possible to break through stereotypes and succeed on your own terms.
