After The View moderator and Oscar-winning actress powered through the top of Thursday’s live broadcast with a hoarse whisper, she addressed for the audience why her voice sounded softer than usual.

“So, before I go any further, I have to explain what’s happening,” the 69-year-old said directly to camera. “I have a cold and it’s kicking my behind. Yes it is.”

Goldberg confirmed that the cold didn’t make her “cranky,” but it is “making me quiet” at the typically spicy Hot Topics table.

“So, I’m not funny today,” Goldberg told the audience.

“Oh, you’re funny,” panelist Sara Haines replied. “Very quietly so!”

Goldberg took the confidence booster and continued, moving the show along to the next topic of discussion.

Fill-in moderator Joy Behar took over for Goldberg on Wednesday’s telecast, which Goldberg missed due to her sickness.

“Welcome to The View! Whoopi’s got some kind of little bug. Not COVID, though. Not COVID. She was wearing a mask yesterday, she wasn’t feeling well, but she’s coming back tomorrow, supposedly, if she feels better,” the 82-year-old said at the start of the show.

Though Goldberg was absent, The View still carried on with its typical abundance of hilarity, as Usher’s “Yeah!” began playing from an audience member’s cell phone immediately after Behar finished telling the crowd why her colleague wasn’t there.

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET/10 a.m. PT on ABC.
