When The View takes the plunge into online advice columns, you truly never know what you’re going to get.
This morning, the ladies debated a question posed by an anonymous married woman whose husband wanted to remain together but forgo the romantic elements of their relationship.
Whoopi Goldberg kicked off the chat by explaining the woman’s situation, telling her co-hosts, “her husband of six years told her that he’s no longer interested in a romantic relationship with her, but he wants to stay married. He says he still loves her, wants to live with her, go to events as a couple.”
The concept puzzled the panel, with some of them even suggesting the husband could be “in the closet” (a theory both Joy Behar and Alyssa Farah Griffin supported) or getting some “side booty,” which Behar also suggested and Sara Haines seemed to agree was possible.
As Sunny Hostin likes to say, she put her “legal hat” on as she asked the nitty-gritty questions: “He’s asking for the roommate, but is it a roommate with benefits or roommate without benefits?”
Goldberg replied, “I think it’s without benefits ’cause he’s kind of saying, I’m not into you right now,” which prompted Hostin to wonder, “So where does he get the benefits from?”
Goldberg declined to get down to specifics as she told her co-host, “Well, there’s so many answers to that question that I can’t even answer on television ’cause it’s early in the morning, but I can tell you after we go to break what I think is going on.”

While Goldberg held back during the segment, Behar went full force ahead. She exclaimed, “He doesn’t want to kiss her, that’s really good for her self esteem.
What a loser he is!” while placing two fingers to make an L on her forehead.
In defense of the unnamed husband, Goldberg said there are “so many reasons” why he wouldn’t want to kiss his wife in the situation, suggesting her “grooming” could be “off,” or she could have halitosis or even an “odor.”
But Behar suggested the fault could lie with him, not her: “Maybe he has ED and doesn’t want to admit it,” she said, much to the delight of the audience.
Egged on by the love from her fans, she continued, “Even worse, peyronie’s disease! You ever see those ads? With the coconut or whatever, the banana? The banana!”
With that, Goldberg gave up on the segment altogether and cut to commercial. With the direction that chat was going, it was probably for the best.
