Taylor Sheridan could bring back one or more 1923 stars for new Yellowstone spin-off to help resolve a major plot point from the finale.

The Yellowstone spin-off series 1923 recently concluded its second and final season. The finale provided answers about the fates of several Dutton family members, especially given the complicated family tree fans have come to know with the expansion from creator Taylor Sheridan.
After the show’s end, the Dutton family’s saga is expected to enter a new era, with another spin-off series focusing on a new generation currently in development.
During an interview, one cast member from 1923 expressed interest in returning for the new spin-off. Here is why I hope they are included in the next saga to help answer some unresolved questions.
1923 star expresses interest in returning for new Yellowstone spin-off
1923 is a continuation of the Dutton family’s origin story, set after the events of the first Yellowstone spin-off, 1883. The series introduced viewers to a new generation of Dutton family members, including Brandon Sklenar’s Spencer Dutton and his nephew, Jack Dutton, played by Darren Mann.

The series recently wrapped up with its second installment as Spencer made it home in time to save his family from Donald Whitfield’s attempt to take over their home. However, before Spencer’s arrival, Jack was tragically shot and killed in a fight.
During an interview with CinemaBlend, Mann opened up about his character’s fate in the Western drama series. At the same time, the actor expressed an interest in returning for the next spin-off, titled 1944, which is reportedly in development.
No one better person to play Jack’s son in 1944 than Jack.
Mann made the above comment when asked about how he could potentially return to the Dutton family saga, especially since his character had been killed off. The actor noted that Jack had an unborn son who could feature as an adult in 1944, paving the way for his potential return.
Taylor Sheridan must bring back the 1923 stars to answer one unresolved plot point
Creator Taylor Sheridan has expanded the Dutton family’s story into a multigenerational saga that spans several eras. As a result, another chapter in their history is inevitable. However, I sincerely hope Sheridan is listening to Mann’s suggestion when crafting the next installment.

When the dust finally settled in 1923, Spencer and Alexandra’s son, John, was revealed to be the only heir left on the Dutton family’s ranch. However, Jack’s widow, Elizabeth, was also pregnant during the second season and left the ranch during the finale.
Actress Michelle Randolph confirmed in the same interview that Liz was still pregnant with Jack’s unborn child at the end of the finale. Therefore, the fate of the couple’s son is arguably the most important unanswered question from 1923, especially because of its implications on the Dutton family tree.
Ultimately, I hope Sheridan addresses the unborn child’s fate in 1944, providing answers about the Dutton family’s missing link. As a result, Randolph could also reprise her role as an older Liz with Mann playing a grown-up version of Jack’s son, bringing the story full circle.
