Taylor Sheridan returns to big screen with F.A.S.T., a crime thriller from Warner Bros., shifting from the wild West to high-stakes CIA operations!
Just when it seemed like Taylor Sheridan had finished redefining the modern Western, he’s back.
Shifting gears from the rugged ranches of Yellowstone to the high-stakes world of CIA operations, Sheridan is returning to the big screen with F.A.S.T., an original crime thriller from Warner Bros. Pictures.
Known for his work on Sicario, Hell or High Water, and a string of hits on Paramount+, Sheridan is once again diving into a world of tension, danger, and complex characters, and fans can’t be more excited.
What to expect from Taylor Sheridan’s latest venture, F.A.S.T.!
At its core, F.A.S.T. is classic Taylor Sheridan, tough heroes, secret government missions, and a messy fight against corruption. The story centers on a former special forces commando who returns home to find things have changed, and not for the better (like the story always goes).

Down on his luck in a small town, he’s approached by the DEA with a mission that feels almost too personal, and that is to lead a secret strike team against drug dealers, that too protected by the CIA.
The tension literally writes itself. Sheridan has always been a master at pitting lone wolves against corrupt systems (Sicario, Wind River, Hell or High Water, to name a few), and F.A.S.T. looks to be no exception.
The story promises a tense, action-packed thriller filled with betrayal, tough choices, and shady government dealings. Fans can expect intense combat, high-stakes missions, and characters who don’t always play by the rules, where the hero might look a lot like the villain.
Given Sheridan’s gift for crafting tension and brutal dialogue, F.A.S.T. could easily serve as the launching pad for another cinematic universe. There’s room for expansion, strike team members with backstories, black ops gone rogue, and maybe some shady government secrets waiting to be uncovered.
Everything to know about F.A.S.T., cast, release date, and more!
If F.A.S.T. already feels like a movie that’s been a long time coming, that’s because it has. Sheridan originally wrote the script nearly a decade ago, with the project first landing at Warner Bros. back in 2018.
At one point, Chris Pratt was circling the lead role, and Sheridan was even eyeing the director’s chair. But then everything changed, new studio owners, the rise of streaming, and a pandemic derailed plans a bit.
For a while, F.A.S.T. was in studio limbo, too expensive for a streaming debut, too risky for theaters. It briefly flirted with Amazon before circling back to Warner Bros., which has now finally locked down a theatrical release for April 23, 2027.
In true Sheridan fashion, that makes it a rare original script to survive the IP-obsessed studio system.
Stepping behind the camera for the first time is Ben Richardson, a longtime Sheridan collaborator and the director of multiple 1923 episodes.
Brandon Sklenar, another 1923 alum who’s been in the news for It Ends With Us, will lead the cast. Additional casting is not known at the moment, but with the film now officially on the calendar, more announcements are likely just around the corner.
The film is produced by David Heyman along with Jeffrey Clifford and Sheridan’s own Bosque Ranch Productions, as per The Hollywood Reporter reports.
And with Warner Bros. finally back in the business of big, original theatrical releases, F.A.S.T. could be Sheridan’s next big-screen hit set to give Sicario fans something new to obsess over.
