Reality star Shantel Jackson, known for her high-profile relationships with rapper Nelly and boxing champion Floyd Mayweather, recently made headlines with a candid confession about her dating life.

In a video shared with fans, Jackson openly stated that she no longer has any interest in dating Black men, a revelation that sparked mixed reactions online.

The confession began when Jackson responded to a fan’s question asking if she had ever dated a white man.

She replied, “No, I have not,” before sharing her surprising new perspective: “Don’t judge me, don’t cancel me, but I’ve told myself, my mom, and my dad—I even joke about it with friends—I’m done dating Black men.” At 40, Jackson has experienced two very public relationships that both ended in heartbreak.

Jackson first gained public attention during her four-year relationship with Floyd Mayweather Jr. Their romance ended in 2014 amid allegations of mistreatment, with Jackson accusing Mayweather of both physical and verbal abuse.

The split became even more public when Mayweather posted a sonogram online, revealing Jackson had an abortion, which he claimed was the real reason for their breakup. Legal battles followed, with Mayweather accusing Jackson of unauthorized use of his credit cards and cash, but the pair ultimately settled their disputes privately.

Shortly after ending things with Mayweather, Jackson began dating Nelly, the Grammy-winning rapper from St. Louis. Their relationship, which began in 2014, was featured on reality shows like “Nellyville” and “The Platinum Life,” giving fans an inside look at their dynamic. Unlike her previous breakup, Jackson’s split with Nelly was much more amicable. She explained on “The Real” in 2021 that their busy schedules and growing apart led to the end of their seven-year relationship.

“We started to grow apart,” she said, citing her focus on building her business and Nelly’s continued touring as reasons for the separation.

Now, Jackson says she’s open to dating white men, though she admits she hasn’t found one who truly appeals to her. “Maybe I just haven’t met someone with that Brad Pitt or Channing Tatum kind of swag,” she joked, adding that sometimes she feels embarrassed to take the leap.

With a Black mother and white father, Jackson says she’s ready to “walk to the opposite side” in her dating life.

While Nelly and Jackson seemed destined for marriage at one point, with Nelly even hinting at a proposal in 2020, their relationship ultimately ended on good terms.
