1923 star Robert Patrick says a recent ACL injury is the reason why his appearance on the hit Yellowstone prequel series is so different from what fans expect.

In a TikTok video published earlier this week, Patrick said that some viewers have even asked him directly if he wears a “fat suit” on the show.

“I said, ‘No, actually, I’m not wearing a fat suit. That’s me. That’s Robert Patrick,’ ” the veteran character actor, 66, said. “So I guess I’ve put on a few pounds and maybe people are surprised to see it, I don’t know.”

“Thanks for asking… it’s all me,” he captioned the video.

Patrick said he sustained an ACL injury about a year and a half ago, which he had never talked about before. The injury happened when he fell off a step ladder just before Christmas.

“It’s impeded my ability to work out,” Patrick explained, adding that it has taken a “great deal of time” to overcome it. “I’m just glad I can walk,” the Peacemaker star said.

“My ACL is gone,” he later said. “So I can’t really do a lot of cardio unless I walk. But I have put on a few pounds. And thanks for noticing.”
