Heartbreaking News: ‘The Real’ Star Tamera Mowry Shares Sad Update About Her Parents
Tamera Mowry, beloved actress and co-host of “The Real,” recently opened up about a deeply personal and emotional chapter in her life: her parents’ divorce and how she’s coping with the changes in her family.
During a heartfelt episode of “The Real,” Tamera shared with her co-hosts and audience that her parents’ divorce is still something she’s adjusting to, even though it happened several years ago.
“My family just recently got divorced and for me, it’s still fresh,” Tamera confessed, her voice tinged with emotion. She went on to explain that her father, Timothy Mowry, has since moved on and is now dating someone new. “I know who my dad is dating,” she said, adding that meeting her father’s girlfriend was a big step for her.
Co-host Loni Love asked Tamera how long it had been since her parents separated. Tamera replied, “Four years, or maybe even five,” emphasizing that, despite the time that has passed, the transition is still new and sometimes difficult for her. She admitted that she recently met her dad’s girlfriend for the first time, something she had been hesitant about.
“I didn’t want to know what was going on. I’m kind of old school in the sense that I don’t want to know unless it’s serious,” Tamera explained. “So I finally met her and I absolutely love her. She’s Chinese and she’s so awesome.”
While Tamera is happy for her father and appreciates being included in his new relationship, she remains unsure about her mother’s dating life. “My mom, I don’t know what’s going on,” she admitted.
Tamera described her mother, Darlene, as very private, especially when it comes to her personal life. “My mom is out there, I guess she’s dating, but she’s very private,” Tamera noted. She also admitted to being overprotective of her mom, wanting to make sure she was okay as she navigated this new phase of her life.
Despite the time that has passed since her parents’ divorce, Tamera said it took her a while to come to terms with it. “They’ve been divorced for four years, but it took me a while to accept it,” she shared. Now, Tamera is embracing the fact that each member of her family is living a different phase of life.
“I love that she’s living her life like it’s golden,” Tamera said of her mom, expressing admiration for her mother’s strength and independence.
The changes in her family aren’t the only transitions Tamera has faced recently. She and her twin sister, Tia Mowry, have been attending therapy together to strengthen their relationship. “We were so different and needed to learn how to communicate in a way that was positive for both of us,” Tamera revealed.
She described herself as “very sensitive,” while Tia is “very assertive and can handle herself.” Through therapy, the sisters have learned how to communicate more effectively and support each other, which has greatly improved their bond.
Tamera’s candidness about her family’s struggles and her own journey through grief, acceptance, and healing is a reminder that even those in the spotlight face personal challenges.
By sharing her story, she hopes to inspire others who may be dealing with similar experiences to find strength, seek support, and embrace new beginnings.
