Summer Walker says she’s taking a break from men after her latest relationship didn’t make it! Sis is single again after publicly dating Rico Recklezz for the last few months.

She announced her new status in a few social media posts on Friday (May 9), and fans are seemingly praising how she’s going about the love life switch.

Summer Walker Explains Split From Rico Recklezz

As mentioned, the singer took to Instagram Stories to reveal that she’s no longer a taken woman. She and Rico had been dating since September or October 2024, according to what he told DJ Vlad in January of this year.

At the time, he also claimed he had DM’ed the artist for 8 years before she gave him a chance.

They didn’t go public until December, and in March, sis bragged about how he goes “above & beyond” to make whatever she desires happen. She thanked him for gifting her luxury experiences, from the nicest yacht to the nicest hotel room she’s ever seen and nicest Valentine’s Day — her words, not ours.

Now, she’s prepared to swerve the dating streets for the time being!  Additionally, she explained that her breakup was about differences between her and Rico, which could indicate that cheating or anything related was not their problem. Even with the breakup, Walker said she loves Rico Recklezz.

“Yes I’m single, but don’t be weird now y’all. I can’t even think about f**kin w another man. I love Rico he really is a sweet man when he wants to be…that’s my pumpkin for life, things just didn’t align how we wanted cause we from two different worlds. Let’s move on now n not create false narratives.”

It seems like Summer Walker chose to address speculations of a breakup after photos surfaced of her in the studio with Playboi Carti. Before things got too nuts in the rumor mill, sis shut down any romantic connection with the rapper, and even praised Carti’s alleged boo for joining them in the recording session.

She also shared a photo that showed them all present at the session!

“Thank you Carti for pulling up to add a great finishing touch to my album, you were a perfect gentlemen & your wife is so sweet n funny,” Walker wrote on IG Stories.

In a separate IG Stories post, Summer Walker also shut down talks of beefing with Rico Recklezz. It appears the mother of three is looking to move on without sparking any drama.

While she didn’t share additional details about the breakup, Walker plans to soak in some single time after a few years of public dating, from her daughter Bubbles’ father, London on Da Track, to her twin sons’ dad, Larry.

“I’m literally honestly & truly over men like that’s it for me, I find more peace in being alone, but let’s normalize moving on without mess. No disrespect, no hard feelings, no bad mouthing each other. Everything is [copestic] on my end, it’s all lessons n love.”

Meanwhile, Rico Recklezz has yet to directly address the breakup with Summer Walker like she did. However, on Thursday, May 8, he shared a message of gratitude with his fans on Instagram Stories and followed up by promoting his music.

“I love my life an I love God so much I’m so thankful n grateful y’all jus don’t know how blessed n favored I am n how good God is,” Rico wrote.

Fans Suspect Rico’s Ye Comments Could Be Related To Breakup

Early Friday, over 8,000 roommates weighed in on Summer Walker’s breakup on the Instagram repost of her relationship announcement messages.

A few of the comments speculated that her pointing out that they’re “from two different worlds” could be about their levels in the music industry. While he’s a rapper who puts out music, Summer is an R&B superstar—Grammy-nominated at that!

For example, IG user @santirabbani wrote, “Two different worlds = he ain’t know how to keep quiet. He talked way too much.”

“As soon as he kept talking after she asked him to stop .. I knew it would be a wrap. Taking her career for a joke,” @its_jahmelas_haus said.

@jj.ennnn commented, “I knew it was gonna be over soon during that live😅” 

Comments like the three above refer to an awkward interaction between Summer Walker and Rico Recklezz during a live streaming session in April. At the time, she immediately tried to shut down his comments about Ye, formerly Kanye West. However, Rico slightly persisted after she asked him to “leave [the topic] alone” and “move on.”

He turned to her, suggesting he could start wilding on Ye during the stream, and she shot back, “No, not with me…Kill your own self.”
