**Pastor Jimmy Swaggart’s Son, Donnie, Shares Devastating News About His Father**
In an emotional announcement, Donnie Swaggart, son of the legendary televangelist and pastor Jimmy Swaggart, confirmed that his father remains in critical condition following a cardiac arrest.
The 90-year-old founder of Jimmy Swaggart Ministries was discovered unconscious at his family home early Sunday morning. Paramedics were called to the scene, where Donnie and other family members performed chest compressions until emergency responders arrived.
Speaking during a special service at the Family Worship Center in Baton Rouge, Donnie detailed the harrowing events. “We arrived at my mother’s house shortly after 8 a.m. and found Dad unconscious,” he shared.
“We performed CPR until EMS arrived. It felt like forever, but the paramedics worked quickly and managed to restore a weak heartbeat.” Jimmy Swaggart was rushed to the hospital and admitted to the intensive care unit, where he remains under close observation.
Doctors have described his condition as critical, warning the family that his prognosis is uncertain unless a significant change occurs.
Despite the grim news, the Swaggart family remains hopeful, relying on their faith during this difficult time. Donnie addressed the congregation with a heartfelt plea: “We believe in a God who works miracles.
We’ve asked the doctors to let God’s timing guide our decisions, and we’re asking the entire body of Christ to join us in prayer.”
Jimmy Swaggart’s life and ministry have left an indelible mark on contemporary evangelical Christianity. Born in the small town of Ferriday, Louisiana, in the 1930s, Swaggart’s journey began with humble roots.
He traveled tirelessly, preaching in rural Pentecostal churches and revival tents, driven by his conviction that the gospel could transform lives.
By the 1970s and 1980s, Swaggart had become a household name, with his fiery Pentecostal sermons broadcast on over 250 television stations worldwide. His soulful gospel music and heartfelt preaching resonated with millions, inspiring faith and offering hope.
However, Swaggart’s journey was not without challenges. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, he faced public scandals that tested his ministry and personal life.
These events led to his defrocking by the Assemblies of God and a significant loss of trust among his followers. Despite the setbacks, Swaggart persevered, rebuilding his ministry from the ground up.
The Family Worship Center in Baton Rouge became the heart of his work, and his SunLife Broadcasting Network extended his reach to a new generation.
Even in his later years, Swaggart remained active in ministry, preaching and producing worship materials well into his 80s. His unwavering faith and dedication to spreading the gospel have inspired countless lives.
As Jimmy Swaggart lies in critical care, his family and congregation are united in prayer. Donnie reflected on his father’s legacy, saying, “This isn’t just about a preacher. This is my dad, my mentor, my friend. He’s poured his life into serving God and helping others come to Christ. We’re still hoping for another miracle.”
Messages of support and prayer have poured in from around the world, a testament to the far-reaching impact of Jimmy Swaggart’s ministry. Whether this marks the final chapter of his life or another trial in his journey, his legacy of faith, perseverance, and devotion to God will continue to inspire generations to come.
