Comedian Lil Rel Reacts to Katt Williams on His Shocking Transformation After Katt Called Him “Ugly”
Comedian Lil Rel Howery has been making headlines, not only for his comedic talent but also for his remarkable physical and mental transformation.
On July 22, the 44-year-old took to Instagram to celebrate his five-year journey, sharing before-and-after photos and expressing immense pride in the dedication it took to reach his current state.
In his post, Lil Rel highlighted the hard work it took to improve himself physically, mentally, spiritually, professionally, and personally.
He credited his progress to quitting alcohol, eating healthier, working out almost daily, writing, strengthening his relationship with God, attending therapy, and holding himself accountable. He encouraged his followers to invest in their own journeys and avoid shortcuts, emphasizing that real change comes from genuine effort.
This transformation comes years after fellow comedian Katt Williams publicly criticized Lil Rel’s appearance. In a 2018 interview with Atlanta’s V103 radio, Katt Williams called Lil Rel “ugly” and suggested that his looks would prevent him from becoming a star, claiming, “White people don’t believe in ugly stars.
They think you have to be someone women want to sleep with and men want to be.” While it’s unclear if these comments motivated Lil Rel, the tension between the two comedians remains a talking point among fans.
Despite the negativity, Lil Rel has received support from some big names. During a 2022 appearance on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen,” Lil Rel shared that Beyoncé herself complimented his appearance, saying, “Ray, you look great.” He described her praise as beautiful and exactly what he needed during his transformation. Fans have also praised his new look, with many noting his youthful appearance and healthy glow.
Lil Rel’s personal life has also seen positive changes. In December 2023, he proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Dannella Lane, at a Beyoncé concert, with the support of Beyoncé, Jay-Z, and Tina Knowles.
Professionally, Lil Rel Howery has continued to rise. Known for his breakout role in “Get Out” and his work on “The Carmichael Show,” he has a slate of upcoming projects, including a comedy with Eric Andre, a sci-fi film with Ryan Reynolds, and a John Cena comedy.
He attributes his success to staying true to himself, telling Complex in 2019, “I never change who I am based on what I think people want to see. I’ve always been authentic, and I believe that if you stay true to yourself, opportunities will come your way.”
Lil Rel isn’t afraid to get political either. In 2020, he filled in for Jimmy Kimmel and used his platform to address serious issues like Black Lives Matter and police violence, saying, “Everything isn’t funny right now.” He believes in using his voice for honesty and change.
Despite professional success—his net worth is estimated at $2 million—Lil Rel has faced personal challenges, including legal disputes and custody battles. Nonetheless, he continues to inspire with his perseverance and authenticity.
Lil Rel’s story is one of resilience, self-improvement, and staying true to oneself, proving that dedication can silence even the harshest critics.
