Arizona’s Attorney General hits Speaker Mike Johnson with a MASSIVE lawsuit for refusing to seat a duly elected Democrat.

In a move that has stunned legal experts and infuriated voters, Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes (D) just filed a federal lawsuit against MAGA Speaker Mike Johnson for refusing to seat newly elected Democratic Congresswoman Adelita Grijalva — a blatant assault on democracy that the Constitution doesn’t allow.

Grijalva, who handily won a special election to replace her late father, the beloved Rep. Raúl Grijalva, has been waiting weeks to be sworn in. But instead of respecting the will of Arizona voters, Johnson is playing power games — keeping the House out of “regular session” so he doesn’t have to swear in a Democrat who might actually fight for working people. Even more galling is the fact that Johnson is keeping the woman who will provide the vote that will force the House to at least vote on releasing the Epstein Files from casting her crucial ballot.

Let’s be clear: this isn’t tradition — it’s obstruction.

Mayes’s lawsuit pulls no punches:

“If the Speaker were granted that authority, he could thwart the people’s choice of who should represent them in Congress,” it says. “Fortunately, the Constitution does not give that authority to the Speaker—or anyone else.”

In other words: Mike Johnson doesn’t get to decide who represents Southern Arizona. The voters already did.

Grijalva herself blasted Johnson’s move as “an unlawful breach of our Constitution and the democratic process.” And she’s right. Every day that Johnson refuses to swear her in is a day that hundreds of thousands of Arizonans are denied representation in Congress — all because the GOP would rather stage tantrums than govern.

And Johnson’s excuse? He says he’ll get around to it when Democrats “help reopen the government.” Translation: he’s holding Arizona’s democracy hostage to score cheap political points.

To make matters worse, Johnson even had the gall to mock Grijalva by saying she should “stop doing TikTok videos” and start serving her constituents — a jaw-dropping statement considering he’s literally the one preventing her from doing her job.

House Democrats have had enough. Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries warned that if Johnson didn’t seat Grijalva immediately, “swift and decisive legal action” would follow. Arizona’s Democratic Attorney General just delivered on that promise.

This isn’t just about one seat. It’s about whether MAGA Republicans can simply erase elections they don’t like by refusing to honor their results.
