Viewers were introduced to Helen Mirren as the Dutton matriarch, Cara Dutton, when 1923 premiered in 2022.
The actress brought the formidable woman to life for two seasons before the show wrapped earlier this year.
Playing the character was a huge gamble for the seasoned actress because she had to trust the show’s creator, Taylor Sheridan, in a manner atypical of an actress of her caliber.
“Both Harrison [Ford] and I, for the first time in our lives, had to commit without reading a single word of the characters or the story or anything,” she revealed. However, the gamble paid off after the show came out, and it was a bona fide hit.

Ironically, Mirren is not holding her breath, waiting to revisit the character in another Yellowstone show, no matter how great the experience was.
“I’d love to revisit Cara, but you know that’s not going to happen,” she told Gold Derby. “The great thing about [1923] is there’s a beginning, a middle, and an end,” Mirren explained, but caveated her decision, saying:
“I would love to work with Taylor again, in a different manifestation. Absolutely. I would always love to work with him. For an actor, we deal in words, and words is what Taylor does so very, very well.”
What Is ‘1923’ Star Helen Mirren Doing Now?

The actress has several projects lined up. She currently stars as Maeve Harrigan in Guy Ritchie‘s Paramount+ crime drama MobLand. With Maeve, Mirren does not stray far from Cara’s personality as they both are tough women. “Cara is tougher.
Maeve is crueler,” she said when asked who is tougher between her two characters.
“She has the obvious manifestation of toughness in the sense of being bullying and cruel and calculating and immoral.
Cara’s challenge is different because she is loyal, and she has a moral compass, and she’s loving and down-to-earth and realistic. Maeve is not realistic. She lives in a fantasy world.”
Watch Mirren in action in 1923 and MobLand on Paramount+ and The Thursday Murder Club on Netflix on August 28. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
