While Sean Diddy Combs’ federal trial in New York is continuing to make headlines, Judge Greg Mathis is dropping his two cents on the case.
On a recent podcast episode, Mathis considered the key points he’s taken from the case. From testimonies made on the stand, surveillance footage, and the transcripts, Mathis came up with a hypothetical sentence he would give the Bad Boy mogul if the jury found him guilty of his trial charges.
If the trial ended today -Judge Mathis only ses one FEDERAL charge that would stick. The statue of limitation has passed for any state crimes committed. #mathisverdict #judgemathis #amirmathis #diddy @judgegregmathis @amirmathis
Judge Mathis Shares His Take on How He’d Sentence Diddy
On the June 5 episode of his podcast, ‘Mathis Verdict,’ the 65-year-old TV judge was candid about Diddy’s federal case with his son Amir. When questioned on the recent online chatter pertaining to the case, Mathis has a strong opinion on those who think Diddy’s charges should be dropped. Mathis says, “Aht, aht,” y’all.
The trial is entering week six on Monday, and the prosecution is still presenting its case. In the latest update, officials said the trial may seep into the first week of July. For clarity, Diddy has not been convicted of any of the charges, including sex trafficking, transportation to engage in prostitution, and racketeering.
To Mathis, prosecutors haven’t fully nailed the sex trafficking and racketeering charges yet. But based on the things revealed in court so far, the TV judge is convinced Diddy is at least guilty of the transportation to engage in prostitution charge.
“Yes, that’s a federal crime,” he said. He called it low-level, but enough to warrant about a year behind bars. He also pointed out that some state crimes, like assault, are off the table because the statute of limitations ran out.
Mathis Discusses Diddy’s Alleged Assaults
In another clip, he explained why he thinks Diddy could’ve been in more trouble, based on other testimonies shared during his trial so far. “I’m convinced he was involved in at least two cases of assault and battery against women,” Mathis said.
He also threw shade at Diddy’s alleged role in Kid Cudi’s car explosion, saying he might’ve been an accessory or accomplice. Now, if Mathis was handing down the gavel to the ‘Last Night’ rapper?
He’d hit Diddy with five to ten years behind bars. This is in addition to the one year for transporting to engage in prostitution. “And to that extent, I’d have to give him a couple… few years. […] What would I give him? Five to 10 [years],” he said. Again, Diddy has yet to be convicted of any charges in his federal case playing out in a Manhattan court.
Diddy’s Ex “Jane” Takes The Stand During Week 5
In week five of the trial, Diddy’s ex-girlfriend took the stand and spilled all the details. Using the pseudonym “Jane,” she testified about being coerced into “hotel nights.” These consisted of drug-fueled hotel hookups with male escorts, allegedly at Diddy’s direction.
Jane said these left her feeling forced and traumatized. Jane also recalled a 2024 Vegas trip where she saw a sexual performance involving another big-name rapper in his hotel room, per Vulture. A male escort named “Anton” was also there, performing a sex act with a woman. The pair was watched by a group of people, including the unidentified rapper.
“Jane” Also Spoke On Yung Miami And Gina Huynh In Court
Additionally, Jane got emotional about Diddy’s other girlfriend, Gina Huynh. In 2022, Gina posted a necklace that matched a bracelet Diddy had given Jane. Jane says she was furious about it, according to USA Today. Text messages sent from her phone also showed her demanding that Gina take it down, emphasizing her distress over the photos.
She also recalled a time when Diddy had taken Yung Miami to Turks and Caicos. Their trip came one day after Jane says she was made to have a freak-off on her birthday. ”I think after being made to have sex with three men on my birthday,” she found it “hurtful” seeing Diddy taking a trip with Miami instead of being with her. She emphasized, “I was extremely heartbroken.”
