Back in a 2011 episode of The View, Goldberg recalled a terrifying moment from her past (via EW):
I was a functioning drug addict, I showed up for work because I knew a lot of people would be out of work and I wouldn’t get a check that I needed to buy my drugs…
I ended up sitting on a bed for three or four days scared there was something under the bed…I wet the bed, I p00ped the bed…I was so scared. I hit bottom. I did that a long time ago.
It wasn’t a joke. This was Goldberg hitting rock bottom. She admitted to being a “functioning drug addict” who still showed up for work because she knew others relied on her paycheck. But behind the scenes, it got dark. Really dark.

In classic Goldberg fashion, she’s always kept it real. During a 1992 recording session, footage obtained by TMZ caught her candidly revealing she smoked a “wonderful joint” right before winning her Oscar for Ghost. She was so high, she had to mentally coach herself to the stage, and her mom called her out for her “glistening eyes.”

In 2016, she told The New York Times that weed helps manage her glaucoma. As she put it during an interview,
If I want to get high, I can go do that at any time. It’s about treating my glaucoma.
As for Amber Heard, her infamous trial with Johnny Depp brought its own mess. Heard, however, denied leaving feces on their bed, blaming their dog Boo, who she said had bowel issues after eating Depp’s weed. Goldberg argued that even if politics isn’t Ben’s strong suit, to wait until the wedding day felt harsh. Alyssa Farah Griffin agreed, while Sara Haines reminded the table it’s part of the show’s format.
