The new video from Netflix includes snippets from the upcoming season, along with behind-the-scenes interviews and footage with the cast and creatives. The sneak peek shows the return of characters Morticia, Gomez, and Pugsley. Past franchise characters will also be introduced in season 2 of Wednesday, including “Grandmama” Hester Frump, played by Joanna Lumley. The Absolutely Fabulous alum expressed her excitement about joining the cast in the new season, and on working with director Tim Burton:
“There’s always something thrilling about working for Tim Burton.[…] The world that they’ve created here, it looks sensational. It’s gothic, sometimes quite bone-chilling, but it’s kind of playful.”
What This Means For Wednesday Season 2
Season 2 Of Wednesday Will Feature More Time With Other Members Of The Addams Family
With her family members close by, the show is certain to reveal more dark branches of the Addams family tree. There are also more opportunities for Wednesday to bond with her little brother, her parents, and her uncle – and for viewers to get to know more about her maternal grandmother.
Our Take On What’s In Store For Wednesday Season 2
The Inclusion Of An Original Character Might Be A Bit Premature
Being a longtime fan of the Addams Family franchise, and a huge fan of the Netflix show, there are a lot of things from the sneak peek that I am excited for. Seeing Pugsley be more involved is perhaps what I’m most looking forward to, as season 1 set up the character in such a way that had me wanting to know more about him. As he joins Wednesday at Nevermore, it looks like Pugsley is still having trouble fitting in as “an outcast among outcasts,” as director Burton puts it.
It’s possible that Grandmama Frump will be joining Wednesday season 2 to expand the Addams Family canon, and perhaps add more mystery and allure to the show. It helps that Joanna Lumley already has a history of playing “fabulous” characters, and if the sneak peek is anything to go by, she will fit right in with Wednesday’s brand of sophistication.
