Typically private about her personal life, Muni Long chose to open up during an August 29th interview on Los Angeles’ The Cruz Show, marking a rare moment of candor about her relationship.

During the interview, Muni Long explained that after more than a decade together—including nine years of marriage—she and Raysean Hairston decided to go their separate ways.

Although she didn’t cite a specific incident that led to the breakup, she strongly implied that Hairston struggled to support her as her career soared. “Drama and silliness are not things I have time for,” she said.

“I’m really sorry, but I have to leave you behind since I’m going to have to celebrate one of the most incredible moments of my life without you.” She described waking up to anger and negativity, even though, in her words, “we’re good, we have a gorgeous child, and we may have some debts to pay, but everyone does.”

Muni Long emphasized that recognizing when something isn’t working takes strength. She admitted that if Raysean could get it together, he could be a good partner, but she refused to sacrifice her passion or happiness for him to catch up. “Losing me will be a powerful lesson to learn,” she added.

Muni Long and Raysean Hairston first met in Los Angeles. Before meeting him, she had little interest in dating or marriage, admitting to Vibe magazine that she hated every date she went on.

Yet, in June 2014, the two married. Their relationship evolved from romance to business partnership in 2019 when they co-founded Supergiant Records, with Hairston serving as a producer and songwriter on some of her tracks. Muni Long even credits Hairston for helping her choose the correct pronunciation of her stage name.

Despite their personal split, Muni Long’s career has flourished. Her 2022 single “Hrs and Hrs” went platinum within a month and sparked a viral TikTok challenge.

Born Priscilla Renea Hamilton in Vero Beach, Florida, Muni Long’s love for music began in childhood. She started singing at church events but preferred to keep her talent private. Inspired by 2000s icons like Aaliyah and Whitney Houston, she began uploading covers and original songs to YouTube as a teen, quickly gaining a following and catching the attention of major artists like Drake.

By 18, she had signed with Capitol Records and released her debut single “Dollhouse.”

After her initial solo career stalled, Muni Long pivoted to songwriting, penning hits for artists like Cheryl Cole. Her persistence paid off, and she eventually returned to the spotlight as a performer.

Muni Long’s story is one of resilience, self-discovery, and refusing to settle for less than she deserves—both in her career and in love. What do you think about her decision to end her marriage? Share your thoughts in the comments, and don’t forget to subscribe for more trending stories.
