**Taraji P. Henson Exposes Common: Why She Won’t Forgive Him**
There’s been a lot of talk about Common and his relationships with some of Hollywood’s most successful Black women. From Serena Williams to Tiffany Haddish, and now Taraji P. Henson, Common has gained a reputation for dating high-profile women, only to leave them feeling blindsided when the relationship ends.

Recently, Taraji broke her silence, revealing how Common not only played with her feelings but also hurt her son during their time together—and she says she’ll never forgive him.
Taraji is known for keeping her private life out of the spotlight, but her experience with Common echoes what other women have said about him. Multiple exes have described a pattern: Common is charming, attractive, and well-spoken, but struggles to maintain long-term relationships. As one observer put it, “You can’t really spot it because he’s so good-looking and well-spoken, but that man can’t keep a woman to save his life.”

Common has a clear type—he’s drawn to women who are beautiful, accomplished, and at the top of their game. His dating history includes Erykah Badu, Serena Williams, Tiffany Haddish, Angela Rye, Taraji P. Henson, and most recently, Jennifer Hudson.
In an interview with Essence, Common admitted that he finds inspiration in the talent and drive of the women he dates, saying their work ethic and ability to be good family members influence both his personal life and his art.
Taraji and Common (whose real name is Lonnie Rashid Lynn) began dating around 2005, when Taraji was on the rise in Hollywood with roles in films like “Baby Boy,” “Hustle & Flow,” and “Four Brothers.”
Their relationship was mostly private, but it became public when Taraji appeared in Common’s “Testify” music video. At the time, Common spoke highly of Taraji, saying she was his mother’s favorite among all the women he’d dated.

Things got serious when Taraji introduced Common to her then 11-year-old son, Marcel. The two bonded quickly, and for a while, it seemed like Taraji had finally found her match. Both were parents, entertainers, and seemed to want the same things out of life.
Taraji believed she’d found her king, and this was her first long-term relationship in a while.
But as the relationship entered its second year, Common began to pull away. He started making Taraji feel like she was the problem, only to eventually admit that he was no longer interested in continuing the relationship.
Common has said in interviews that he loves the excitement of the honeymoon phase, but loses interest when things get serious or complicated. As he put it, “Relationships ain’t good for me. I don’t make my best albums when I’m in a relationship.”

Taraji, however, was left hurt—not just for herself, but for her son, who was deeply affected by Common’s sudden absence. Taraji has since stated that she’ll never forgive Common for the way he left, especially after her son was so saddened by the breakup.
She’s even said that Common was the last serious relationship she had, because she didn’t want to put her son through that pain again.
Common’s pattern with women has become more apparent over time, and many now believe that dating him isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. While he continues to speak fondly of his exes, his inability to commit has left a trail of broken hearts.
As for Taraji, she’s moved on, but the hurt remains—and she wants the world to know that some wounds don’t heal easily.
