Whoopi Goldberg was sadly missing from The View Wednesday (May 14), but her co-hosts gave a much-needed update on the comedian’s whereabouts.
Joy Behar, who took over Goldberg’s moderating duties on the broadcast, shared why Goldberg was not present for the taping.
“Whoopi’s got some kind of little bug,” she explained, before adding, “Not COVID, though.”
Behar added that Goldberg “was wearing a mask yesterday” and noted the comedian “wasn’t feeling well.”
“But she’s coming back tomorrow, supposedly, if she feels better,” Behar said.
Goldberg’s return to the show will be short-lived, however, as she regularly skips Friday tapings. Behar will likely fill in for her as the Hot Topics moderator for Friday’s episode, as well.
Goldberg has had quite the week on The View. She narrowly avoided cursing on the show earlier this week while discussing President Donald Trump‘s plans to accept a luxury airplane from Qatar.
The hilarious moment occurred when Ana Navarro urged Americans to vote more Democrats into office as Republicans “are doing nothing to oversee the blatant conflicts of interest that Trump and his family are engaged in.”
Goldberg took a different approach, urging viewers to find “the right people” to vote into office on either side of the aisle.
“Maybe it’s an independent. Maybe it’s a Republican who is not beholden. But they have to be moved otherwise this sh— stuff … is going keep ….” she said, letting her sentence trail off as she flashed a cheeky smile at the audience.
Though she has been on The View for well over a decade now, even this daytime television pro has her slip-ups.
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
